Re: dallas always this dull?
Sun, January 11, 2004 - 5:44 PMHummm -- sorry I have been busy with work. Having just moved from LA to dallas last April - I can't tell you if it is dull or not. But if you are looking for a group of burners I can suggest a good local dentor and/or dallas-only list.
What would you like this to be?

Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville are your best bets.
Fair Park is just next to Deep Ellum and has some good spots.
Xpo Lounge
Double Wide
Meridian Room
Bar of Soap
I think the coffee place Stephanie was mentioning was the
New Amsterdam Coffeehaus (+/- a few odd vowels)
FT Worth is always fun...Wreck room!!!
Plenty of little bars in Lakewood.
If you are a live and let live kind of guy and dont
mind hanging out in a mixed bar...the Grapevine in
Oak Lawn is stellar...2 dollar anythings almost
every day for happy hours.
Still...and now I plug and promote like I always do.
The show to see and be seen at is The Boys Named Sue
at Muddy Waters on Sunday nights (lowest greenville.)

Coffee bars:
Cafe Brazil is great!!!! They have great food too.
All good Cafe www.allgoodcafe.com - Its like going
to Austin without stopping in Waco.
....ah....for coffee...thats about that.

Re: dallas always this dull?
Thu, February 19, 2004 - 3:46 PMFallout Lounge is fairly new in the Expo Park area, 3 doors down from New Amsterdam, and is worth checking out. Always very nice friendly, interesting folks there and Howard the bartender rocks. Not too crowded, a pretty mellow place with good, eclectic music. -

Re: dallas always this dull?
Thu, January 13, 2005 - 12:07 PMHere's something exciting in Dallas -- we're doing a play called Girl Meets Girl at Teatro Dallas, opening 3 Feb, running for the entire month.
We're also looking for a few people to help out with the show (crew, photography, and possibly a couple actresses).
Let me know if you're interested! -

Re: dallas always this dull?
Tue, June 14, 2005 - 9:09 AMDallas is known as the hub. basically, it's a city that most people visit for flight delays, then leave. There's no real solid sense of community here. People are WAY too self absorbed to talk to anyone they don't know in public....and the entire freeform society scene has been swept outta town.
It's great for being a corporate doppleganger though...I've always managed to retain employment even in the extreme periods of downsizing.....all related companies will play follow the leader too, but there's always an opening somewhere's if your lookin for one.
All work, no play...but hey, it's ok I could be on a farm in delaware trying to make things grow...never really my speciality.
Austin is just a drive away tho...
